Offhand Privacy Policy
We do not automatically collect your content
Offhand has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, or third-party data SDKs. The app does not upload your recordings, transcripts, finished notes, tags, or searches to any server operated by the developer.
Microphone, transcription, and on-device AI
The microphone is used only after you start a recording. Audio is transcribed with Apple's on-device speech technology and organized by the Qwen3.5-2B model included with the app by default. You can also select Apple Foundation Models when available on your device. Qwen needs no separate first-use download; the system may download speech-language packs or Apple model resources from Apple. The release app does not send recordings or text to cloud AI services. AI features depend on device compatibility and model availability.
Local storage, retention, and deletion
Recordings, transcripts, finished notes, and tags are stored in the app's local shared container. Deleted notes move to Trash and are permanently removed after 30 days, or sooner if you delete them permanently. Purchase access is determined by verified Apple StoreKit transactions, which StoreKit can cache on the device. Free-use counters are stored in the system Keychain and local preferences. Keychain records may survive an uninstall and reinstall as part of normal iOS behavior.
Calendar, Reminders, and system features
When you add an event, Offhand requests write-only Calendar access. Enabling task capture requires the full Reminders permission exposed by iOS. The app uses this access to create reminders you confirm, update or cancel linked reminders, and read their content, dates, and completion status to keep them in sync. Entries are then managed by Calendar or Reminders and may sync through accounts you configured. Notifications, Live Activities, and widgets are presented by Apple system services.
Export and sharing
A note leaves the app only when you choose to copy, export, or share it through the iOS share sheet. The destination you select then handles that data under its own privacy policy.
Feedback and support
Only when you choose to submit this site's feedback form does the site store your message, optional contact information, and the app version, iOS version, and selected language supplied with the link. This information is used only to reply, investigate issues, and improve the product; it is not sold or used for advertising. To limit automated abuse, the site counts a daily-rotating one-way hash of the source IP by hour and removes expired counters; it does not store the raw IP. This site is hosted by OpenAI Sites, with feedback stored in its managed Cloudflare D1 database. Hosting providers may process request metadata needed to operate and secure the service. Feedback is kept only for a reasonable period needed to handle issues and support later improvements. Contact the developer to request access or deletion.
In-app purchases
Apple processes purchases and purchase restoration through StoreKit. The developer does not receive your card or billing information. Apple's privacy policy governs Apple's handling of purchase data.
Children and policy changes
Offhand does not knowingly collect children's personal information automatically, and the feedback page is not directed to children. If the developer learns that a child submitted personal information, it will be deleted after notice. If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and its effective date.
